When the suction cupthe ferret and the Destop are not enough to unblock a drain, this is generally due to an accumulation of grease and soap in the pipe.

In such cases, the most effective solution is high-pressure hydrocleaning. This technique uses pressurised water to unblock pipes while ensuring thorough cleaningto prevent future problems.

Your sink is blocked or has a very bad drain

How do you unblock a sink yourself?

  1. Dismantle the siphon under the sink and clean it
  2. Buy a ferret in a supermarket and try to unblock the situation: ideal for small local clogs
  3. Call the unblocking experts if no solution works (Destop, ferret, acid, bicarbonate of soda, boiling water)

Soap plugs are responsible for more than 80% of total sink blockages.

The soap cap is a paste that usually forms in pipes when water stagnates due to a low or reverse slope.

The cooking fats and the washing machine detergents form a paste that hardens in your pipe until it is filled to 100 %. the dough dries to a chalk-like hardness

The unblocking experts use only water to remove the most stubborn soap clogs.

Our latest generation nozzles are calibrated to make the most of a 350 bar pressure, while saving the water needed to unclog the drain.

Your pipes will be perfectly clean after our intervention, you will enjoy a like-new installation!

Soap clogging can fill your entire pipe: this is why all other unblocking techniques (unblocking with a mechanical plunger) are totally ineffective.

How can I avoid a soap clog?

To avoid blockages, don't pour grease down the sink, regularly flush your pipes with hot water or a mixture of bicarbonate and vinegar, and install filters to block debris.

Prefer liquid detergent for washing machines and use 50 mm pipes with a good slope to encourage drainage.

By following these tips, you'll reduce the risk of blockages and keep your pipes healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

If the sink is completely blocked, home methods are generally not enough. A professional will use an electric plunger, a pump or a high-pressure unblocker to effectively remove the blockage, even if it is far down the drain.

The detergent itself is not the real problem. What causes clogs is water stagnation in a poorly laid pipe, often with a counter-slope. In this case, the mixture of detergent, grease and food residues forms a deposit at the bottom of the pipe... and eventually clogs it. Correcting the slope or high-pressure cleaning will solve the problem for good.

This is often due to a blocked common pipe between the sink and the main drain. Water from the dishwasher can't drain properly, so it comes out at the nearest point: the drain pipe under the sink.

This noise is caused by poor airflow in the pipes, often due to a partial blockage. The air is released through the siphon, causing the typical gurgling sound.

Destop can be ineffective against a solid blockage (grease, limescale, soap). Worse still, it can harden the blockage or damage the PVC joints. Better to opt for a mechanical method or call in a professional.

A professional can pinpoint the exact location of the blockage using a inspection camera or experience: noise, flow rate and the condition of other drains often provide very reliable clues.

Yes! The combo bicarbonate + white vinegar + hot water can be effective for small, oily plugs. But be careful: these solutions are preventive, not miraculous.

Yes, if we intervene and the problem reappears within a short time, we will come back free of charge (in accordance with our guarantee conditions, available on request).

No. At The unblocking Experts, no unblocking = no bill. We apply a "satisfied or free" policy in these rare cases.

It all depends on the clog. For light clogs, a ferret or manual pump is all you need. But for stubborn greasy blockages or deep blockages, high-pressure hydrocleaning is often necessary.
