What causes a blocked sewer?
If your toilets are regularly clogged and can no longer flush. If they are overflowing and you notice that your sinks are not draining properly and that you hear "gurgling" sounds every time you flush, the problem is most likely outside your home.
How can an outside manhole get blocked, a sewer overflow when they have much larger pipes than those in your houses?
The main causes of sewer overflows are
- Using too much toilet paper at the same time (several flushes at the same time)
- Non-biodegradable wipes or sanitary towels disposed of in the WC
- Scale, lime and lye deposits that harden in the pipes and reduce their diameter
- Design problem: too small a slope between your internal installations and the external manhole or sewer.
- Multiple 90° elbows that slow down the progression of the material.
- Land subsidence causing breaks in the pipeline
- Roots in the pipe.
If your outside manhole is blocked, there is no need to put destop in your toilet, only a professional unblocker can get you out of this situation.
Destop, bicarbonate of soda, grandmother's remedy... All these techniques are totally ineffective facing a clogged sewer problem. The reason is simple, the volume of water in the tube strongly dilutes whatever you are going to add.
The most effective way to unblocking an overflowing drain is high-pressure hydrocleaning. This solution is fast, long-lasting and environmentally friendly. The unblocking experts offer a camera inspection (fixed price €250) if a root or breakage is suspected.
Who pays for the sewer that backs up or for the overflowing manhole?
It all depends on the location of the blockage. If it is outside your property, the municipality pays for the unblocking. If the blockage is in your property (outside manhole in your garden), the bill is for the owner or tenant.
We have written an article explaining how to determine whether the sewer problem is private or public

Frequently Asked Questions
Overflowing sewer, should I call a drain cleaner or a plumber?
Plumbers are our prescribers and privileged partners, they are specialists, but they do not have the equipment for this type of intervention because it requires a very specific investment (endoscopic camera, hydrocureuse, etc.).
Plumbers usually use our services for unblocking drains and sewers so that they can concentrate on their core business.
What is hydrocleaning?
Hydrocleaning consists of unclogging and cleaning your pipes with a very high pressure "kärcher" equipped with specific ferrets. The nozzle goes up and cleans your pipes until it destroys the blockage.
Is the sewer unclogging package really without surprises?
The unblocking experts are the only professionals in your area to offer a single all-inclusive pricing with no surprises.
You will not be charged anything extra, regardless of where you live or the time of day. The only exception is an extra charge of 20% for weekends and public holidays.
The transparency of our rates is your guarantee!
Is your intervention safe for my pipes?
Our ferrets work with a pressure of 350 bar (they comply with French and European standards) and are therefore safe for your pipes.
What to do in case of a pipe leak?
If a leak is detected by the camera, we can offer you a repair without breakage thanks to the "lining" technique.
My external view is overflowing, can you intervene during the day?
In 80% of cases, we intervene the same day. If we are unable to respond (or if you are not located in the Hérault), we will inform you of the possibilities of an appointment as soon as we receive your call. Knowing that we are open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all credit cards, cheques and cash.
For interventions on estimate (repair without breakage), a payment in 3 x without expenses is possible, by bank card.
